Black Box Corporation Part-time Nortel SL-100 Switch Technician in South Korea
The Government Solutions Division of Black Box Network Services is an information systems integrator that designs, implements and maintains telecommunications and data solutions for Federal customers worldwide.
Black Box is seeking a qualified Korean National to provide part time support of the US Army installed base of Nortel Telephone Switching Equipment and associated equipment installed throughout South Korea. The Switch Technician is responsible for the advanced operation, and maintenance of 27 DSN voice switches, peripheral systems and transport equipment supporting the DSN network installed throughout South Korea.
This position will be located in the United States Army Garrison- Yongsan, Seoul Republic of Korea.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Principle duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The primary function of the Switch Technician is to be the primary source of expertise in the daily operation and maintenance of the following technologies and/or platforms: voice switch infrastructure experience including Nortel SL-100; Remote Cluster Controller (RCC), Avaya AS5300 (VoIP), Meridian 1 Option 11C’s, peripheral systems: Ventraq NetPlus Telemetry Management Systems (TMS), T-Metric Consoles, Call Pilot Voice Mail, digital communications including: Optical SONET systems, DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN; and DC Power distribution systems including inverters and rectifiers supporting DSN systems.
Coordination, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities including Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Optical SONET systems supporting the DSN network.
Complete work orders for moves, adds, changes (MAC) and deletions
Ensure front-line customer satisfaction by dealing professionally and effectively with all customers/clients, providing support to a varied user community.
Update daily logs with site specific information; and compose clear and concise reports for customer documentation.
Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate customers concerns and meet Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations of complex telecommunication networks and systems; extremely proficient in Nortel SL100. Experience working within a US Department of Defense or US Army environment a plus.

A valid US CONUS/OCONUS Driver License is required.
Must be fluent in the English language
The Switch Technician is expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.
General knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment is required.
Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
Ability to work extremely flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work is required.
