Amazon.com Sr. Practice Manager, Professional Services Korea in Seoul, South Korea

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a world-class technical leader and strategy advisor who is passionate about helping our customers achieve their most challenging business goals using AWS Services, and who can help build out our Korea Practice.

As a Professional Services Practice Manager of an emerging Geo like Korea, the role will focus on the following:

  • Recruit and develop a bar-raising cross-functional team of Cloud Architects and Cloud Transformation Advisors and be a Culture Role Model

  • Work with the sales organization to co-create and execute strategic account plans and develop and close on a pipeline of Professional Services engagements

  • Work with the Partner and Channels team to enable and engage Systems Integrator (SI) and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners

  • Manage the P&L and other core practice-level metrics

  • Participate/lead in regional and global programs

  • Earn respect internally and externally as a thought leader and be a CXO-level influencer

  • Advocate for Korean customers as part of the ongoing development of AWS global product/services and ProServe global strategy

    All Senior Practice Managers also have a functional consulting discipline and are required to spend 5-10% of their time in the trenches delivering client engagements. In this case, the functional domain is IT Transformation. In the role of Senior IT Transformation consultant, the Senior Practice Manager will enable customers to achieve their most challenging business and organizational goals through well-managed complex transformation of IT using strategic application of AWS cloud technologies. As a trusted customer advocate, IT Transformation Consultants help organizations understand, plan and implement best practices around advanced AWS-supported scenarios, and drive migrations of enterprise application workloads to AWS cloud. They develop cloud strategies based on IT standards, leading customers and partners over technical and business hurdles of cloud adoption using agile project management approaches. This part of the role covers a broad range of relevant technologies including: networking, security, compute, storage, database, enterprise applications, ITSM life cycle, and requires strong technical and business leadership including project management, value analysis, change and risk management.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Senior Practice Manager

  • Sales Management – work with the wider account team to develop account strategies to penetrate and expand deeply into the largest and most complex Enterprises in Korea, build consulting pipelines sufficient to drive P&L targets, and close deals

  • People Management – recruiting and managing a high-performing, cross discipline team of consultants, be a role model of culture, and lead people development processes such as annual review, staff development and career planning, compensation, and promotions

  • Partner and Channels Management – Build, engage, and enable a network of partners

  • Product Management - Advocate for Korean customers as part of the ongoing development of AWS global product/services and ProServe global strategy

  • P&L/MIS management

  • IT Transformation Consulting

  • Communication: fluent communication with technical, architectural and business audiences by listening to the customer and collaborating with peer teams in both verbal and written form

  • Strategy & Innovation: articulate business/industry fundamentals ( e.g., ROI, CBA, TCO); understand regulations and operational excellence (e.g., SOX, Lean, Six Sigma); familiarity with business strategy frameworks (e.g., Norton/Kaplan, Blue/Red Ocean, N-ABC) and trends in the IT industry (e.g., CI/CD, IoT, Predictive Analytics)

  • Process & Tactics: Use industry enterprise frameworks, ontologies, and methodologies to deliver business capabilities through whole systems design and architecture (e.g. TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL)

  • Leadership: build and influence relationships, grow collaborative partnerships, proactively and consistently inspire others, achieve successful results in an ambiguous environment, be a catalyst for change (e.g. Lewin, ADKAR, Kotter)

  • Organizational & Human Dynamics: effectively work to resolve conflicts, promote industry standards for governance and policies, navigate political situations to achieve common enterprise goals and outcomes (e.g. Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation)

  • Technology Breadth: demonstrate architectural best practices applied across a breadth of technologies to solve organizational problems, articulate views/roadmaps for future development, and understand the interaction between infrastructure, operations, and development

  • Technology Depth: demonstrate detailed knowledge of concepts, implementation, patterns, and issues of at least one technology area; demonstrate the ability to quickly assimilate information about new technologies and business models

  • History of successfully selling technical consulting and architecture engagements

  • Experience leading people managers who manage individual consultants and individual consultants directly

  • 10+ years of architecture/implementation/consulting experience on large-scale, enterprise-wide IT endeavors

  • Experience developing IT Strategy and Enterprise Architectures in complex environments

  • Large-scale systems integration involving on-premises technology and potentially public cloud platforms

  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with technical, architectural and executive audiences

  • Proven strong written communication skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or Related Field Master’s/MBA degree preferred

  • Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS

  • Preferred basic certifications: TOGAF, COBIT, CISSP, PMP, MCSE, VCP, VCDX, RHCE, AWS CSA

  • Advanced board certification highly preferred: Open CA Level 2 or 3, IASA CITA-P
