What we are doing:

We are building up the core part of SAP HANA database which has been the best in-memory database in the world and which is also the flagship software and the innovation platform of SAP. SAP, headquartered in Germany, is one of the largest and leading companies in the enterprise software market in the world.

We, HANA Kernel Development team in SAP Labs Korea, are leading the architecture design and implementation of

  • Cloud-scale distributed relational storage engine,

  • memory/disk-hybrid relational storage engine,

  • distributed transaction processing (with multi-version concurrency control),

  • database replication,

  • smart workload management/analysis (using machine learning technology as well),

  • metadata management,

  • HW/SW co-design leveraging NVM, FPGA, NUMA, SIMD, HW transactional memory, GPU, SSD

  • smart session/network protocol,

  • and many other important core components in SAP HANA database, tightly co-working with other SAP HANA development teams in Germany and North America.

In the meanwhile, we also recently started contributing to academic and research communities by publishing selected and proven innovations into the number-1 database conferences in the world [1].

Required skills/talents:

Basically, we are looking for talented C software developers or software architects. However, if you think you are a fast-learner who enjoys solving “real” problems with new ideas, logical reasoning, and solid engineering mind set, please contact us.

  • Expertise in C or C development

  • Understanding on either of computer architecture, operating systems, database systems or artificial intelligence

  • Familiar with Linux environment

  • Responsibility, Integrity, Teamwork

  • Interest and talent on solving “real” problems with new ideas and logical reasoning

  • A basic level (doesn’t need to be fluent, though) of English
