Job Description The Veterans Administration Transition Assistance Program (VA-TAP) VA Benefits Advisors (BA) support implementation of the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW), the Hire Heroes Act and Veterans Employment Initiative (VEI) on behalf of the department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The BA Site Lead provides transitioning service members (Active, Reserve, National Guard), family members, and Veterans a thorough understanding of earned VA benefits, awareness of education and training opportunities, assistance in application processes, and assistance in preparing for civilian employment; along benefits briefings to groups, individual counseling and final transition readiness evaluations.

The BA Site Lead is responsible for coordinating with local government TAP Managers and installation staff to schedule classroom support, supervises BA’s and Senior BA’s, and ensures quality performance.

The individual in this position is also responsible for supplies, instructional materials, and office equipment; and preparing periodic reports.

Work at times will require extended hours, including week days, weekends and some holidays, generally anticipating and addressing emerging requirements under changing and constrained time lines.

Required Skills Position requires a Bachelor Degree or equivalent plus at least three years’ experience as a VA Benefits Advisor with strong knowledge of VA Benefits.Position also requires three years’ supervisory experience and ability to mentor, counsel, and evaluate employee performance.Applicants must have knowledge of Military structures and rank structures and proven ability to work with government installation personnel, including ability to provide formal briefings.Applicants must successfully undergo a background investigation (National Agency Check).Applicants must also successfully complete initial training to maintain employment.This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.Applicants must be able to travel up to 10% and at times able to work outside normal work hours.Individual must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.Position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.Military Veterans and Spouses encouraged to apply.

Department Our services in the Defense business unit support all branches of the U.S. military and the intelligence community.
